La Petite Maison's Drink – The Method

WHere is a home-style version of a drink featured on a new cocktail list. It's a batch pre-mixed which is packed with the tastes of the holiday season, rendering it ideal for your holiday party. Reserve the remaining cordial you can use for brunch beverages, desserts, or for another batch of bikinis.

Makes enough for 10 servings

For the Clementine Syrup (yields 750ml)

300ml recently pressed clementine juice
200ml newly squeezed lemon juice
500g caster sugar

Ingredients for the Drink (makes 850ml, to serve 10)

400ml decent vodka
100ml dry gin
150ml peach liqueur
200ml clementine cordial (as made above)
A few cranberries, for garnish
Mandarin essential oil, for finishing

Directions

Making the Syrup: Put the listed ingredients in a pot, bring to a gentle boil, agitating until the sugar dissolves. After that, remove from the burner allowing it to cool down fully. Pour into a sterilised bottle, seal and store in the fridge, it will last for up to one month.

To make Cocktail Base: Mix all the liquids into a large bottle, let it rest for an hour, then pass it through preferably using cheesecloth, to ensure it's perfectly clear.

When ready to serve: Measure 85ml from the premix to a stirring glass containing ice, and agitate gently for one minute to cool it down. Strain to a cold coupe glass or equivalent, top with some cranberries and finish by giving it a quick spritz of the essential oil over the top.
